Monterey Select Board
Minutes of the meeting of 2/16/16
Meeting Opened at: 9am
Select Board Members Present: Scott Jenssen, Chairperson, Kenn Basler and Steve Weisz
Also in attendance for parts of the meeting: Shawn Tryon and Stanley Ross
Miscellaneous Select Board Items Reviewed:
1. The Board reviewed the warrant for this Thursday’s meeting.
a. The Board reiterated that the reason it was held during school break week was to try to get as many people to be able to attend for the Lake Garfield tax district article.
b. The Board discussed how best to explain the Board’s reasons for requesting that the Tax Collector, Treasurer and Town Clerk positions be appointed.
c. The Finance Committee fully supports the article to hire a grant writer.
2. Kenn updated the rest of the Board on the school meeting last week. It was agreed that a letter will be sent to the School Committee requesting a level funded budget.
3. A note received from the Accountant with regards to pay requested to the Town Clerk was discussed. Steve is going to follow up with the Treasurer and Accountant on this as well as a few others to keep things flowing smoothly here.
4. Minutes were approved.
5. Warrants were signed.
The board met with Director of Operations, Shawn Tryon to review the following:
1. Emergency over the weekend; heat lines froze at town hall. LePrevost Plumbing has been called.
2. Discussion ensued over the $17,000 bill submitted by the Fire Department for the facility rental – paying this would cause the account to go over. In looking at the reports it appears fire call pay may have been taken from the wrong account.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 10:51am
